No Theory Test needed for the CBT….. But, If you are about to embark on a life on the road, then you owe it to yourself to familiarise yourself with its contents. Proposed changes in the future may make the theory test a requirement of the cbt, but currently all the syllabus asks for is to explain that students need an understanding of the Highway Code. When you ride out on the road, other road users don’t care whether you’ve been out there 30 years, or 30 seconds, they expect you to be doing the right thing (even if they are not doing so themselves)! It’s clear on some recent training sessions that students (some of whom are already car drivers) don’t know the meaning of some basic road signs. The consequences of getting your reactions to certain road signs wrong could be catastrophic. So get yourself an up to date copy, and read it!
