The Hospital Teddy Bear Run…. This year it’ll be Pants! Please come along to out umpteenth Christmas Hospital Teddy Bear Run. Sunday 15th of December. Meeting at Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar at 9.30 for a 10am departure to Children’s Casualty Unit at Heath Hospital. Over the years as a Traffic Cop we found ourselves spending a lot of time at the Casualty Unit dealing with the aftermath of road crashes. This is always traumatic for those involved, but particularly so for children. With a colleague, we set up a collection to take small Teddy Bears to the Childrens Casualty Unit as it was felt that making a connection with a ‘little friend’ that they could keep and take home, aided their recovery. Over the years your support has been fantastic in keeping this going. Small bears are better. Nothing too big that will get in the way of any treatment that the kids may need. (the £1 ones from IKEA are ideal). Please don’t wrap them and please, only new. Please join us once again. And bring along a cuddly friend…. Or two….or more and we will make sure they find a new home in time for Christmas. Please note that this is for the Children’s Casualty Unit to ease the pain of any child unfortunate to find themselves in A and E over Christmas. And this is the ‘pants’ bit…. My wife, Lisa, is collecting ladies pants for the charity ‘Smalls For All’.(www.smallssforall.org). They donate pants to girls and young ladies in deprived areas, where in some cultures if a female is not wearing pants, they are considered fair game, and can be molested and abused. A simple pair of pants can go a long way to preventing this. (unbelievable, I know)!!! So if you wish to support this too, I will collect any donations from you at the snack bar and will ensure they get passed on. New pants, preferably plain black child aged 3-15 or ladies sizes 8-14. A multi pack from Asda or Tesco etc are just a couple of quid and can make such a big difference to the lives of these deprived young girls. A simple pair of pants can prevent so much misery. Check out their website for the details. So we are making this years run for Teddys and Pants, Pants and Teddys. Please help in any way you can. Come and join us for a great excuse to ride your bike, all for a good cause. (or causes)!

All good for an early start. The rain held off and a nice ride over to Newport for John to pass his Mod 2 big bike test today. A well deserved smile. He’s going to keep his 125 for commuting for now (minus the L plates) and big bike hunting is yet to come. Well done.

A nice (but cold) day out in The Vale of Glamorgan and around the Heritage Coastline to clock up a few miles, with a few warm stops, along the way. A 1st Class day out.
