Day four of our 4 Day Advanced course sees Ian & Peter discussing a notorious bend in Mid Wales. Nicknamed Grim Reaper Bend by one of our students it has been the scene of many (far too many) bike crashes over the years.
Still littered with bike debris, visible in the picture.
We walk the bend and analyse the layout before riding it to see why so many bikers have found this bend to be a challenge.
We all got around it safely. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
Congratulations to Pilot Dan for passing his Mod 1 at the first attempt today. Flying high! Did a step up day yesterday, first time on a big bike and passed the test today. Got his Mod 2 to come.
Bad news though for Barny. I checked all his documents before leaving Cardiff and told him to put them safe!!!
Just before his test was due in Newport, we discovered that the “safe place” was his ruck sack in the container back at the school in Cardiff. No documents – no test! From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
Saw this in Cardiff.
No Gloves, just a pair of shorts and trainers. Cool or Bonkers? I’ve cropped the photo to hide his embarrassment.
It’s so important to wear appropriate gear when you are riding. If he came off, the first thing he would do is put his hands out to break his fall. At 30mph your hand would be down to the bone in just a second!
Bonkers I say. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
Doing their Direct Access Step Up day in Cardiff today, Hannah & Daniel.
It turns out that Daniel, a pilot from Portugal was in school with a pilot from Cardiff who happens to be engaged to Hannah who is from Essex. So now we are all invited to the wedding!!! (I made that bit up, but the rest is just a strange coincidence).
Tune in for the next exciting episode of “It all happened one day on a bike”…. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
Steven & Paul discuss helmet law and safety at the start of their CBT today. Instructor Paul uses my helmet as an example!
He’s just jealous really and he wants a bright Orange one too. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
With a cup of tea that is!

Our monthly rideout today took us to Llandrindod Wells Fire Station where a specially arranged Biker Down Course was put on for us.
This is a must do course for any biker. Facts about bike crashes, emergency First Aid, including practical demonstrations on how to remove a casualty’s motorcycle helmet. And then a presentation on Visibility and Conspicuity which was excellent.
Big thanks to Road Safety & Fire Service Staff, Alyson, Marty & Dave who made this a very valuable experience.
Great stuff. Do it! From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
