Motorcycle Training news, from 1st Class Rider Training – Cardiff.
Let’s Hear for The Girls!! Girl Power hit Newport today and it was all smiles as Mikaela & Hannah passed their Mod 1 Big Bike Tests. With just a couple of minor faults between them, they both made it look easy! (That’s because it was easy wasn’t it??)

In the shadow? There is a saying that you should never walk in another man’s shadow but for us at 1st Class we’ve got one that has served us well. “Never ride too far from the shadow of The Golden Arches.” Mikaela & Hannah taking a break out training in Newport today.

Avoiding the Unavoidable ‘Avoidance’. This is Mikaela today showing great skills as she practices for her Mod 1 test. This is the ‘avoidance’ exercise where your speed is measured to ensure you achieve 50kph and then swerve around the hazard. It’s to simulate someone opening a car door or stepping off the kerb in front of you. This is part of the test so there’s no avoiding the ‘avoidance’! Great control skills by Mikaela today meant that she said she’s actually looking forward to her test!

Miles of Smiles. Well Done to Matt for passing his Mod 1 test in Newport today with just a couple of minor rider faults recorded. A great result for him. He was going to keep his 125 (that was until he found himself in South Wales Superbikes on the weekend and became mesmerised by ‘the shiny things’). Beware the shiny things Matt! Well done & happy shopping.

Newport Transporter Bridge today. We’ve all heard the saying ‘Red Sky at night, Shepherd’s delight’. Well I’ve got one for bikers. It goes like this, ‘Misty Sky in the morning,… means its Misty & its the morning’. That’s served me well for years that has. Take care out there today!

In the Interests of Market Research. Today I visited ‘HARVEY’S’ Cafe at Britannia Industrial Estate which will be our feeding place for the Classroom Based Theory Day at the start of our 3 Countries Advanced Course. They have agreed to open up for us on a Sunday when our course starts on the 6th of April. So big thanks to the owners. The road ride session of the course commences on the 23rd of April. If you want to join us you still can. Visit, http://ift.tt/1nmU4z6 for details. Look, Harvey’s even provided a little bloke in a white suit to look after my bike. Lovely!!

In Aldi from today. Some cheap bike stuff. Kevlar jeans with CE approved protectors just £29. Paddock stand £29 to name just a few. Helmets, (big debate going to start again??) gloves, base layers and touring boots. All worth a look.

Not a Great Start!! Two bikes out ready for a cbt today. In the classroom starting the training is Darren. In the Taxi that has just left the school is the 2nd student who doesn’t have a driving licence. He turned up with his Driving Licence Application Form downloaded from the Internet and asked “would this be ok”? “I haven’t completed it yet”. It’s made clear on our website to make sure you have a valid licence BEFORE booking a course. It’s an expensive mistake to make otherwise. So Darren gets 1:1 Tuition. The other student gets to go home.
