A news item today warned of an upsurge in unlicensed & fraudulent Car Driving Instructors. Each driving school car must have a licence displayed in the windscreen. So don’t get in if its not there.
But that is not the case for Motorcycle Instructors. So how do you know who you are training with.
This picture shows a DSA issued Motorcycle Certificate and it must be carried at all times that instruction is being given, and can be inspected by the students at any time.
So what information does it contain. A photo of the holder (he’s a good looking bloke!) and the expiry date. It gives the Approved Training Body that the instructor is licenced with.
There is a serial number at the top. The D at the start of the serial number means that the instructor is qualified to teach under the Direct Access Scheme. The C at the end means that he has been assessed at the DSA Assessment centre at Cardington.
This licence should be Blue in colour. There are also licenced instructors who hold a similar, but Yellow certificate. This means that they are licenced to instruct CBT and have yet to be assessed for the later categories of bike training.
All our Instructors hold valid certificates. If you are not sure then ask to see it. Our instructors are governed by strict guidelines and subject to periodic assessment by the DSA.
I hope this helps. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
