Practising ‘The Avoidance’ Exercise.
Here is James on his ‘Step Up’ day. The first stage of his Direct Access training. Practising the Avoidance Exercise on our Honda CBF 600.
He has been riding a Yamaha 125 and has built up plenty of road experience which will stand him in good stead for his future tests.
The Avoidance Exercise is part of the Module 1 Bike Test, and the rider must attain a speed of 32mph and then swerve to avoid the big blue cone.
It is to simulate someone opening a car door on you, or someone stepping from the pavement etc.
Practicing builds up confidence and will allow riders in the future to deal with such emergencies without panicking or losing control.
A good day for James. From: http://www.facebook.com/pages/p/195837770466074
